Apprentice Workshops – Pastry Chef Junior

Before the launch of the programme, NWS Holdings conducted a survey to ask EXP student members about their everyday lives and interests. From the results, most of the students showed an interest in knowing more about the job responsibilities and duties of a pastry chef. Seeing this, NWS EXP Journey invited Executive Pastry Chef, Ken Lee, from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited to teach our students how to make chocolate truffles – a basic recipe for a beginner chef.

It might look easy, but in fact the making of chocolates requires skill, patience and creativity. All of our student members listened carefully to Chef Ken and performed excellently in every step. With their creativity, the chocolates they made not only tasted delicious but also showcased their personalities. And the chef was delighted by the outcome!

Chef Ken also shared his experience in entering the culinary arts field as a pastry chef and encouraged the EXP members to keep learning and aiming high. The students really enjoyed the learning experience and gave positive feedback. Some of them even see becoming pastry chef as their future career after the workshop, and are determined to work hard for it!
